6 Pin Slot Connector

I recently bought a FATBOY XFX RX590 8GB GPU for my personal build. My power source is a 700W (Cooler Master RS-700-AMBA-D3), but it only has 4pin floppy and 6pin PCI-E slots. I have a PCI express cable that has a 6 and 8 pin connector, but I am fairly certain I cannot plug that in solely, right. Three stars, because as others have noted, the wiring is wrong. But I couldn't find any other slot PS/2 like this. It's pretty easy to pull the contacts from the plug using a small screwdriver. I used a 8 pin connector instead of the 10 pin it came with to connect it to my motherboard.
6 Pin Slot Connector Pinout
Is there a myth about 6/8 pin connectors - is this is a deciding factor when buying an AMD GPU ?
I was told on here i forgot which thread or it might have been a different forum , that dont get 6 pin connector only get 8 pin.
No actual reason was given.
At the moment i do not mind buying the ASUS Strix RX470 but it has a 6 pin.
I am also keen on the PowerColor ; Saphire Nitro + ; Gigabyte RX480 looks decent and priced well ; Asus G1 Strix
I cant remember if the Nitro+ has an 8pin.
Anyways for me the RX480 Gigabyte looks good value for money although i am pretty happy to get the RX470s
PowerColor was my primary choice of all because of price, except for the RX480 its stupidly priced like most other RX480's
Maybe not in the USD price range but then again i dont know what deal the USA has with China because its as if they never pay for taxes or shipping the prices of electronics is ALWAYS better in USA when comparing to England / South Africa , its crazy.
